Masters Swimming

United States Masters Swimming (USMS) is a national organization that provides organized workouts, competitions, clinics and workshops for adults aged 18 and over. Programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming.

Founded in 1970, the non-profit corporation is organized with over 500 clubs in 52 regions throughout the United States. Membership numbers more than 48,000, with individual members ranging in age from 18 to over 100.

Within the clubs, structured workouts, with a coach, offer well-thought-out training assistance. Pool and open-water races provide opportunities to compete and measure individual progress at the local, state, national and international levels. USMS programs also offer stroke and technique clinics, workshops, and instruction, as well as social functions.

All USMS programs are designed to help swimmers improve fitness and/or train for specific goals, and offer active support for a healthy lifestyle through friendship and camaraderie.

The South Shore Sails Masters Team offers:

  • Training Times...Practices offered 5 times/week. Monday & Wednesday 5:15-6:30am/Friday 5:30-6:30am.  EVENING practices include Monday & Thursday 7:00 - 8:15 pm

  • Pool Usage...year round indoor and outdoor training opportunities available.
  • Coaching ...all practices coached by Melanie Yarzy, Dennis Bentson & Ramon Kik.
  • Monthly Dues ...$65/month; Fitness Center Members pay a discounted fee of $50/month.
  • Custom Practices...designed specifically for each individual based on abilities. Stay-fit swimmers, triathletes and ex-collegiate swimmers are all welcome.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Monday:   5:15 - 6:30 am & 7:00 - 8:15 pm

Wednesday:  5:15 - 6:30 am

Thursday:  7:00 - 8:15 pm

Friday:  5:30 - 6:30 am

ALL PRACTICES ARE BEING HELD IN OUR 6 LANE 25 METER OUTDOOR SALINE POOL AT THE FITNESS CENTER

What To Bring:

Swim Suit, Goggles, Swim Cap (optional for short hair)

Swim Equipment Needed:

Kickboard, paddles, pull buoy and fins
